We are looking for a Product Quality Assurance/ Test and Integration engineer to join our client Thermo Fisher.

The position:

As PQA / Test & Integration Engineer, you will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team and responsible for the quality, test and integration aspects of high-tech electron-microscope modules or sub-systems. You will work closely with a team of mechanical, electronics, software, mechatronics, dynamics, thermodynamics engineers, architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary colleagues outside R&D like sourcing, operations, and service. You will typically be involved in 1 to 3 projects or activities in parallel. In these projects you can see the module designs grow from a conceptual idea to a finished product for our customers. As linking pin within the development team, you will frequently be in contact with project stakeholders throughout the organization and will interact directly on requests related to your designs. The decisions made by you and your team will have direct business impact. Your challenge will be to find solutions for technological complex problems, meeting the needs of all your stakeholders, combining short term goals with long term needs. You will report directly to the manager of the PQA Group within the Manage Sample R&D department.

What will you do as a PQA/ Test and Integration engineer?

  • Create a test and integration plan and guide the integration of mechatronic sub modules, consisting of hardware and software components.
  • Write high level test plans, test designs and test cases, covering functional, lifetime and reliability tests (including Test to Failure, HASS and HALT tests).
  • Execute or supervise the execution of manual and automated tests, analyze test results and write clear progress and recommendation reports to the project’s stakeholders.
  • Organize design FMEA’s and safety risk assessments for modules and sub-systems.
  • Contribute to higher level system risk assessments. • Definition of reliability targets and reliability budget breakdowns.
  • Promote Design-for-Reliability, train colleagues and involve suppliers in DfR.
  • Chase and support problem solving by hardware and software engineers.
  • Assure proper alignment of entry and exit quality criteria with adjacent projects.
  • Initiate and support product and process quality improvements.

Which qualifications do you need?

To qualify for this position, you have a suitable background and an adequate level of experience:

  • Technical Master or Bachelor degree in Mechatronic, Mechanic, System Engineering, or Applied Physics.
  • Thorough understanding of hardware and software development and test processes, methodologies, and standards.
  • Proven quality-, cost- and time-focused contributions to achieving project and project timelines.
  • Experience with monitoring and improving product quality in ongoing developments.
  • Experience of integration, verification and validation of mechatronic modules on module and system level is preferred.
  • Experience with reliability, HALT testing is preferred.

The TEM Solutions R&D organization within Thermo Fisher Scientific develops solutions for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The Manage Sample R&D department within this organization is a globally organized team with members in the city of Brno, Czech Republic and Eindhoven, The Netherlands. As a team, we develop groundbreaking technologies and deliver mechatronic modules related to sample manipulation (state-of-the-art TEM stages), sample transfer (loading and transport under room and cryogenic temperature conditions), sample and system conditioning (active vibration isolation systems, cryogenic systems for cooling), sample stimulation (electrical, heating) in and around the microscopes. Additionally, we are responsible for the dynamics, mechatronics, and thermal competences within the R&D organization.
